Today I'm reminiscing over the past 20 months that we have been blessed to have Elijah in our lives! Guess I'm just really missing him today!!!! Here's some pictures from our past. . . .Enjoy!

Reminiscing
Funny Eli Stories
Elijah Story #1 - There are so many things that have happened recently that are so funny, I just can't help but share them!! First off, Elijah has resorted to calling me "Abby" on occasion. While it's funny, I always correct him when he says it. Well, last week, while he was at my sister-in-law's, this funny story insued. They had just gotten back from looking at the horses, and while my sister-in-law was getting him out of the car and bringing him in the house, here's what was said:
Elijah: Banging on the garage door, "Abby, Let me in!"
Terry: Mommy's not in there.
Elijah: After a pause, "Daddy, Let me in!"
Elijah Story #2 - Since we are potty training Elijah right now (he kind of started it on his own actually), he has learned to tell us when he has to pee and go poopie (which he's doing really well with). He's also learned to trick us with it. If he wants to get out of his highchair, he'll start to stand in the chair, and point to his diaper area and say "pee-pee". We fell for it a few times. Now we know he's just pulling our leg!! Smart boy!
Elijah Story #3 - After Elijah has been disciplined, his first step (at least with me), is to lean in and give me a big kiss (sound effects and all - MWAH). I guess that's his way of saying "Sorry, Mommy" (or at least that's my thinking!!!)
Elijah Story #4 - If Elijah is getting reprimanded, or told to stop doing something, he has resorted to putting his hands over his ears!!! Guess that's his way of telling us he doesn't want to hear it! I tell ya, this boy is amazing!!
Children can be so funny - especially 20 month old little boys named Eli! He always keeps me on my toes and keeps life interesting!!

6 Years
Today is not only my niece Emma's birthday, but it's also the 6 year anniversary of when Vince and I started dating. It's such a far off story, that so many people don't believe us! We met on a Tuesday via the internet (online dating website - GASP!), and started dating 4 days later, which was March 9, 2003. We were married 3 months after our first date. It's a crazy love story, but it's our love story, and I wouldn't want it any other way! I love you Vince and am so happy you are in my life!! I love you!

Today is my niece Emma's 6th birthday! You couldn't ask for a better niece! She's so loving and fun-hearted. It's no wonder we all love her so much! Happy Birthday Emma! Hope you have a great day! We love you!

Thoughts on Being a Working Mom
I have been struggling a lot recently with being a "working mom". I hate that I can't be home with Eli more than I am. I get jealous of the time that Vince gets to spend with him since he's with him every day and jealous of the fact that about 90% of the moms I know are stay-at-home moms. I wish our situation was different so that I don't have to be a working mom. But then I read this article today which put some things in perspective for me. There's a reason I'm a working mom, and it's the plan God would have for us right now. I'm still not 100% "cured" of my struggles, but this definitely put things in perspective and reminded me of God's sovereignty in my life.
Article – God Chooses Different Paths for Every Mom
A frequent comment I receive from CWMs (Christian Working Moms) is I really want to be a stay at home Mom, but we financially can’t make it if I don’t work. Also, some Moms honestly share that they are jealous of the stay at home Moms. I’m not saying that is true of everyone, but I have heard many Moms wish they could stay home and wonder why they do not.
I wanted to point you to a fascinating story in the Bible that clearly points out to us that God has different paths for each one of us.In Genesis 26:2, God says the following, “The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt, live in the land where I tell you to live.” In Genesis 46:3-4 we see God telling Jacob, Isaac’s son, something totally different, “I am God, the God of your father, he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.” I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.”
So, how could God in one chapter tell one person not to go to Egypt and then years later tell someone else to go to Egypt? God’s sovereign plan and will are the answer. It was not time for Isaac to go to Egypt, he was to follow the plan God set out for him. Yet, God had a different plan for Isaac’s son, Jacob. He had Jacob go to Egypt. Did God change his mind? Absolutely not, God does not and cannot change, His character is perfect. God’s timing is always right on schedule. It was not time for Isaac to go to Egypt, but in God’s sovereign plan it was time for Jacob. Let me share with you a quote from Beth Moore in her Patriarch study, (p. 220), “God reserves the sovereign right to direct one of His children on a path He may have forbidden to another.” What does that say to you?
What does this story day to us CWMs and possibly a reluctant CWM? I have often said one size does not fit all when it comes to staying at home or working outside of the home as a Christian. God rarely works the same way twice. He is too awesome and creative to do the same thing over and over again. If God did repeat Himself then we wouldn’t give him the credit for what he does in our lives. Dear CWM God has a sovereign plan for your life and it may not look at all like the same plan of the woman sitting next to you in church. God does not want cookie cutter Christians He wants us to trust him fully with our lives and trust Him to guide us in His plan for us. Now, all of that being said there are Biblical principles that we all follow as Christians.The Bible is our source of wisdom and learning about what God has to say to us. Yet, the Bible does not say Kimberly you should be a therapist and a coach. The Bible does not say what your occupation should be. God gave each of us talents and gifts for us to use for his glory. We spend time with Him and seek His will for our individual lives and use the wisdom he has given us.
Can I say if you are working and don’t want to be working, spend some alone time with God and ask if where you are right now is His sovereign plan for your life. If God’s plan is for you to be working then accept that is what He has for you to do right now and do not be envious of a friend who stays at home. Ask God to shine his glory in your work place and in your home. Trust that God knows what he is doing, if he wants you in Egypt and has decided another woman is not to be in Egypt (figuratively speaking). God knows what he is doing and He is sovereign in your life.
My prayer is that God’s sovereign will for you will fill you with hope and expectation. Expectation to see what is coming next. I can assure you that Jacob had to be fearful about going to Egypt and moving his entire family, but he followed God and trusted that God would go with Him. Whatever you are experiencing right now realize God is with you and it did not catch Him by surprise.
Final Thoughts
One of the things we have been discussing in the CWM Coaching Tips is not complaining. Can I challenge you to try and go a day without complaining? It is much harder than you think. As Christians, who serve a glorious Savior, we really have nothing to complain about.
Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Hair Cut!

Swim Lessons
So, I finally have pictures and video from Elijah's swim class. Last night was the last night, BUT we signed up for another 7 weeks we had so much fun! Eli is having so much fun, and it's nice to be able to get out and do something, even in the cold weather!! Enjoy the pictures and videos from our fun times!!

Valentine's Day
We had a great Valentine's day this year. It was pretty low-key actually. We celebrated on Friday since Vince had to be at the church all day on Saturday. Vince and I went to our church's Celebration of Marriage on Friday night and that was a nice time. Vince got me some pretty tulips and some chocolates (YUM!). Eli made out like a bandit with all his loot!! On Valentine's Day, Eli and I laid low and just hung around the house and napped. Love those days! We had Chinese take out for dinner that night (SO romantic!!) All in all, we had a wonderful time spending time with the ones we love most!! Enjoy the pictures!

Out for a Walk
It turned out to be such a nice day today! It was 60 degrees when I got home from work. After all the snow we've been having, today was GREAT! Eli and I decided to go for a walk before dinner. We had a great time pointing out the trees, the birds, the doggies, and kitties, and going bumpy bump on the uneven sidewalks! Fun times!!
