Resurrection Day at the Turners

We had a great Resurrection day at our house. It was definitely a packed day, but fun nonetheless. Vince had to work Saturday night, so he got home at 7:30 on Sunday morning and we got ready for church at 9:00 and left at 8:15. He had been up since 1:00 on Saturday afternoon!!! Eli looked all cute in his shirt and sweater vest (of course). The worship music was GREAT! We got home and Vince got about an hour nap in before we had to get up and go to our family's house for lunch. Eli got his Easter basket from us and wanted to play with everything right away! We had a nice meal and then Eli got another Easter basket (his THIRD!!!). Then they did an Easter Egg Hunt for Eli and their niece Emily. Eli did really well and found 7 eggs! Lots of fun! Then we went home and crashed for 3 hour naps!!! It was much needed (especially for Vince). Eli got to play with his new toys after his nap and he was entralled with his Mr. Potato Head. He played with him for over 2 1/2 hours! He was up past 10:00 playing with him last night! All in all, it was a great day and we had a fun time with our family. Here's the pictures from our day. Hope you all had a great Resurrection Day celebrating the life of Christ!!

Ready For Bed

Last night when I was bringing Eli up to bed, we stopped in our bedroom so I could turn on the lamp (so I could find my way later!). Before I knew it, he climbed up the stairs into the bed (stairs are for the dog, but apparently, now for Eli too!) and got right into bed. He laid right down on the pillow and pulled the covers up over him. He then looked at me and said, "Good Night", and then said, "Bye Bye". Guess he was ready for bed! Of course I didn't have my camera with me last night, but tonight, I brought my camera upstairs with us to see if he would do it again. Sure enough, Eli climbed right up into our bed, laid down on the pillow and pulled the covers up on him! It is SO cute! What a little man we have!

Reading Material

Elijah hasn't been feeling well the last few days, so he's been pretty inactive. Not going non-stop as he usually is. The other night, he sat in his toy bin for a while, just "reading" the Oriental Trading magazine we got in the mail that day. He had a good ol' time reading and then eventually tearing the pages.

Date Night

So, last night was date night for Vince and me. We haven't had a "date" since June '08! I guess it's hard once you have children to find that alone time! We had gotten a few movie gift cards for Christmas, so we decided to go to the movies (again, last time to the movies I think was April or May '08!!). Our sister-in-law and family took Elijah for us for a few hours and we were off. Vince commented that it was weird holding hands since we usually have a little bitty hand between us!

We went and saw Knowing with Nicolas Cage. It was OK at the beginning and during the movie, but the last 1/3 of the movie was so far fetched and off the wall. I left the theater laughing saying it was so cheesy!! Oh well. At least we didn't spend our own money on the movie and at least I got to spend some alone time with my hubby!

Not sure when our next date night will be, but hopefully it will be before 2010. We still have movie gift cards to use :-)

Here's some pictures - trying to get a picture with my iPhone at the stop sign is REALLY difficult!!!

Swimming Ends, Tumbling Begins!

Well, next week is Eli's last swimming class. We've done 2 sessions (7 weeks each) and have had a blast! I think Eli is ready to move to something different, so I'm signing him up for the Preschool Tumble With Me Class at our YMCA. I'm really excited about him trying something new! Since Eli doesn't get much interaction with other kids his age (with the exception of church nursery once a week), I want him to get involved in activities that would allow such interactions! I think this class will do just that! Anyone else do tumbling classes? What should I expect? It's the parent/child classes since he's only (almost) 2. I'll get a work out too! ha!! I'm really looking forward to some fun times ahead!

Gatlinburg 2009

We had a great time in Gatlinburg this year. It was a nice relaxing weekend, with no agenda (besides hitting certain restaurants!). We had pretty decent weather - some rain here and there, but it didn't put a damper on our time at all. My mom flew down the day before and went with us. She flew back to NH this morning, which is sad for all of us, but having her come with us on our yearly trip to Gatlinburg for the 2nd year in a row was great! Maybe a new tradition?!

Here's a few pictures from our trip. All of the pictures are HERE.

My To Do List has a To Do List!

Am I the only one who makes lists for everything? I'm working on getting everything set for Gatlinburg (in 2 days!!) and have discovered that my To Do List now has it's own To Do List! I'm just always afraid that I'm going to forget something, so my lists include EVERYTHING and then some for packing. Makes for a full carload, but I will have everything we need and will not have forgetten anything!

Am I the only one that is this crazy with lists?!

31 Ways/Days To Pray for Your Children

Thanks Suzanne for posting about 31 ways to pray for your children. I looked online, and HERE'S a calendar format that is nice and colorful and easy to follow! What a great reminder of how we need to pray for our children daily and more specifics to pray.

In Just 4 Days. . . . . . .

This is where we'll be!!! We are heading out to Gatlinburg, TN bright and early Friday morning! I'm SO ready to go and relax and just do nothing! My mom is flying in on Thursday afternoon and she's coming with us again. She came last year too and we had such a fun time. I'm so looking forward to my cabin in the woods! Hopefully this 4 day work week will fly by!! More pictures to come after we get back next week!

Everytime Eli sees the camera he says "CHEEEESE", even if it's not out to take pictures. He's such a ham when it comes to the camera! See for yourself:

Sunny Days

Well, last weekend was just BEAUTIFUL! We decided to take advantage of our zoo membership since it's been to cold to go. Everyone else had the same idea! The zoo was packed and we ended up parking in no-man's-land, but it was a great time. We went to Red Robin for lunch afterwards and then hit Ikea for some new end tables. It was such a fun time getting out and enjoying the beautiful day!
