Cincinnati Blizzard!

Well, I guess I need to get caught up on my blogs!! So, hold on to your hats, there are several blogs coming!

We had a huge snowstorm last week here in Cincinnati. They actually called it a blizzard! It was pretty bad actually - Cincinnati hasn't seen this much snow in a long time. We got a foot at our house and a little bit south of us (20 minutes) got about 16 inches, so it was definitely a big deal. It took me almost 3 hours to get home from work with picking up Elijah and everything. We pretty much stayed home that whole weekend. It was nice and relaxing actually. We went from being in our pj's all day, to showering, and then putting on clean pj's! That's how the whole weekend went! Our church actually canceled the Saturday night service and the first service on Sunday (we have 3 on Sunday). This is the FIRST time the church has ever canceled a service in the 20 years the church has been open! That's dedication!

Vince shoveled the walk-way and a path around the cars (what a great guy)! 3-4 days later the snow was ALL GONE! We've been having temps in the mid-to-upper 50's/60's, so that will get rid of a foot of snow pretty quickly!! Here's some pictures of the recent "Blizzard of 2008" (cracks me up - compared to my home in NH, where they've had over 100+ inches of snow this winter!).

Some new things.

Well, Elijah has learned some new "words". He still has not returned to saying "mama". That was pretty short lived. Here's a list of his current vocabulary:

Dada
Nana
Uh-Oh
Alex (pretty close to it)

He also has new actions:

Waves
Claps
Gives "5"
High "5"
Blows Raspberries

He's definitely a talented kid (is that me being biased?!)

This is Elijah blowing his raspberries - guess that's his sign he's done with pictures!

This spoon is just not big enough!

Helping Mommy with Laundry!

While I was doing laundry today, I had to put Elijah somewhere so he wasn't getting into everything (i.e. the dryer!). So, I stuck him inside one of the laundry hampers to occupy himself while I was doing laundry. He had a fun time actually!!

CAN YOU FOLD THAT FOR ME ELI?

THIS IS HOW I FEEL ABOUT FOLDING THIS MOMMY!

HAHAHAHA! SO CUTE!

I'LL JUST HAVE A SEAT AND PLAY.

I SEE YOU!!

Peeking and Standing!

This was Elijah standing on his own and peeking over the couch tonight. He's getting so independent and standing on his own and pulling himself up everywhere! He's had some good head bonks, but I guess that comes with it!!

I SEE YOU!

WHO'S THAT BEHIND THE COUCH?

THERE HE IS! HI ELIJAH!

"LOOK AT ME STANDING ALL BY MYSELF!"

Check out the thighs!!

I just love Elijah's "thunder thighs" (as the nurses called them in the hospital for his surgery!). He weighs 21 pounds and is 8 months old - he's in the upper percentile, but I don't care! I'd rather him have the thunder thighs now, when it's cute and acceptable! ha!

Elijah clapped for the first time yesterday! Now, he does it all the time, and it's so cute!! Enjoy!

Elijah's New Bath Toy

I saw this at Target the other day and thought it would be perfect for Elijah when he takes his bath - plus it's oh so cute! It's a big rubber duckie that sits inside of the bathtub and even quacks! He had a blast in this tonight for his bath!

Feeling MUCH better!

So, Elijah had his follow up appointment today and he's doing much better. Apparently he had a double ear infection. I thought it was only his right ear, but it was both! The right was just a little worse than the left. Poor kiddo! He has one dose left of his antibiotic and then he's done. He also had his 2nd flu shot booster today, so he's been a tad cranky this afternoon (I would be too if I had to get a shot!).

But, all in all, he's doing much better. He's sleeping through the night again (once he gets to sleep that is, which is a whole other story). Poor guy has been through a lot in the past few weeks, and he's really taken it pretty much in stride. His surgery area is looking really good and healing very well. He's a trooper!

Thank you for all your prayers - he's almost back to 100% - yay!!!

Stuck!

Elijah has now figured out how to get behind his standing music toy. He's been pretty good about staying in front o fit, but today he figured out how to get behind it, and subsequently, getting stuck behind it! Doesn't make him very happy (or me, since he's bonked his head more since he figured out how to get behind it!) I guess that's what happens when they become mobile!

LOOK AT ME - I'M STANDING BEHIND MY TOY!

OK, TABLE BEHIND ME, TOY IN FRONT OF ME, NOW WHAT?

HOLDING ON FOR DEAR LIFE!

GET ME OUT OF HERE!

WHERE'S ELIJAH??

God Provides!

When Elijah was scheduled for surgery, I knew I would be off of work for several days without pay since I didn't have enough vacation time saved up to cover it. We knew it was going to be rough, but we could scrape by if needed. Well, I was short about 23 hours. So, over half a week's worth of pay. Not a little drop in the bucket.

Well, I had TOTALLY forgotten about my quarterly bonus, and last week I was reminded it was going to be in this week's paycheck (the paycheck I was short 23 hours). So, today, I was reviewing my paycheck, and the amount of the bonus came out to a few dollars MORE than the amount I was not getting paid for being off. How amazing is that?!
